Bon Swa,
Life here is incredible (I'll try not to use that word too often). Anyway, Eric [Long, priest at St. Mary Magdalene, Kansas City] and FanFan [priest in the Torbeck region] and I visited FanFan's churches yesterday, at least some of them. He has ten churches and eight schools that he oversees. Also visited the farm where the goat that Eric's congregation purchased resides. Drank coconut milk from the coconut that the family at the farm so graciously offered. Much to relate.
Watch out for my overflowing heart!
Today we go into LeCayes and visit the hospital there, where the patients have to pay to have a bed. That's about all they get there--a bed. It makes the birthing center seem all the more unbelievable.
I send my best to everyone, with thanks that I am able to be here for all of us.
Linda

This is quite an experience. Here are the things that one might not like: a thin stream of cold water for a shower; nonexistent electricity; mosquitoes. But here's the bonus: none of that matters. It is an incredible place and, as others say, it is like a magnet. I don't feel sorry for these people; in many ways, I think they have the answers. However, they do need medical care and are happy to accept it. When we go on the home visits with Vitamin A and de-worming medicine, they accept us and our medicines without question. Just think what we would do in the U.S. if someone strange--different color and nationality--came to our door and wanted to give medicine to our children. And, oh, by the way, we want to paint numbers on your house!!
Have to go--computer needed,
L.

Greetings from Haiti:
Well, here we are, and I hope that I can describe all of this
accurately when I return. Right now I'm caught up in the whole
experience and not thinking very much. The trip was wonderful, even
the lugging of seven large trunks from place to place. Haiti is all
I expected, but nothing that I expected. We are headed to the
birthing center this morning and off to make home calls. More later
if possible, Linda
