Calling All Bread Bakers

We are starting a Eucharistic bread ministry. If you have experience in making bread and would like to be a part of this ministry, please contact Canon Sommer at ssommer@ghtc-kc.org or 816.474.8260 ext. 107 no later than Thursday, February 23. We’ll gather on a Saturday (date and location to be announced) to familiarize ourselves with the recipe and technique, bake up some bread and enjoy good fellowship.

Parking Garage Passes Available

Parking passes are available for the parking lot at Washington & 13th Streets (enter on Washington). Please see ushers for a pass. How to use the pass: Put your ticket in (the one you received when you entered the garage) then put the pass in the same slot where you put the ticket. Instructions are also printed on the machine to guide you.

The First Day of Lent: Ash Wednesday

February 22 7 a.m. + 12:05 p.m. + 7 p.m. Proper Liturgy including homily, Imposition of Ashes, Litany of Penitence, Holy Eucharist 7 a.m. • said service 12:05 p.m. • organ and hymns 7 p.m. • choir and hymns Palm fronds to be burned may be left in the basket at the back of the Nave by February 13, or burned at home with the ashes being returned to the ground. If the KCMO school district has a weather-related closing, there will be NO 7 a.m. service; the other services will be held as scheduled.

Donate a Book of Common Prayer

Many of our beloved Books of Common Prayer need to be replaced. Pew editions of the BCP are $20 each. If you would like to purchase one or more in memory of a deceased loved one, or in thanksgiving for a living loved one, please contact Janet Sweeting at jsweeting@ghtc-kc.org or 816.361.3563. She will place orders periodically over the next several months. A bookplate, memorializing your loved one, will be inserted in the BCP(s).

Congratulations to our new vestry class!  The following people were elected to the GHTC vestry at the Annual Meeting on January 29. Mark Galus John Hornbeck (will serve the remaining year in a vacated seat) Bill Hubbard Mike McDonald Larry McMullen Joyce Morrow Peter Norris Pat Wolley John Hornbeck’s term will end in 2013.  The other seven will serve through 2015.
