Hospital Visitation
Health information privacy laws prohibit hospitals — even Episcopal hospitals — from routinely calling clergy when parishioners are admitted. Go to www.hhs.gov/ocr/privacy for more information.
If you are hospitalized, please contact the Cathedral 816-474-8260 [for Deacon Jerry Grabher, ext. 111; for Canon Sue Sommer, ext. 107; for Dean Peter DeVeau, ext. 151]. If you cannot place the call yourself, ask a family member, friend, or hospital chaplain to place the call.
If you do not receive a visit, most likely your clergy do not know you are hospitalized. Cathedral clergy want to provide pastoral care to hospitalized parishioners; they count on you to keep them in the loop!
