What is Maison de Naissance?

Maison de Naissance is a maternity center designed as a birthing home. Their mission is to provide preferential care for mothers and babies in extreme poverty in Haiti. The services of a modern maternity center are offered in the hospitality of a safe, culturally appropriate, welcoming and friendly home — a house of birth — Maison de Naissance.

Friends of MN is a group at GHTC that supports the efforts of the Healthy Mothers-Healthy Babies (HM-HB) foundation, located at 6401 Wornall Terrace, Kansas City, MO 64113. HM-HB is a 501c3 non-profit corporation.

What do we do?

We are a group of volunteers dedicated to communicating what is happening at MN with our faith community and educating others about the greater mission of MN. Members of GHTC have generously supported the efforts of MN in many ways: special offerings, gifts on baptism days, knitting cotton infant items for babies of MN, and participating in fundraising events that benefit MN.

The Friends of MN mission is: “To raise awareness in our local community of the needs of women and children in the Haitian community of Larnage District, Southwestern Haiti, support the efforts and further the goals of Healthy Mothers – Healthy Babies Foundation, sponsor of Maison de Naissance, to reduce infant and maternal mortality.”

What can you do to help?

Become a Friend of MN! We meet on the second Wednesday of every other month—we are currently meeting on even-numbered months (join us in October, December, February, you get the idea) We meet at the Cathedral at 6:30 p.m. E-mail makes it possible to have ‘virtual’ meetings when necessary.
Pray for those who travel to Haiti to serve our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Support the fundraising efforts taking place around the area that will directly impact the efforts of those who serve MN mothers and babies.
Donate an offering to the Healthy Mothers-Healthy Babies Foundation. Here’s how: Checks may be made payable to “Healthy Mothers - Healthy Babies Foundation” and mailed to Maison de Naissance at the 6401 Wornall Terrace, KC MO 64113 address. They also accept MasterCard, Visa, Discover and AMEX.

Current activities, meetings

Our next meeting is December 12 at 6:30 p.m. at Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral.

The occasion of a Baptism at Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral is a special event and is an opportunity to make a donation to Maison de Naissance. In honor of our newly baptized, we invite you to consider a donation to MN. Our next baptism will be November 4, 2007.
