Spiritual Gift Inventory

Spiritual Gift Inventory
“Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of services, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone.”

-Paul in his First Letter to the Corinthians (NRSV)

Dear Cathedral Parishioner,

What Paul wrote more than 2000 years ago is still true today. The spiritual gifts among us are many and varied, and the services and activities that may benefit from those gifts are equally varied, but all must be led by the Holy Spirit.

On the Saturday before Pentecost Sunday, the Cathedral Moving Forward group met with almost all of our discussion centered on spiritual gifts. At that meeting, we agreed that, much like the community discernment that took place in the March 1 Cathedral Gathering, an individual discernment of spiritual gifts is important in moving forward.

To that end, you will find a questionnaire that we hope will be a comfortable guide and tool in your discernment. We hope that you will take time to complete the inventory. Your answers will be tabulated and you will receive a profile and a description of the spiritual gifts and their possible application at the Cathedral.

Most of all, we hope that you will then use the profile to share your insights with us. We believe that our planning for the future of the Cathedral will best be done when we can consider all of our resources, including the spiritual gifts of our parishioners and your willingness to put those gifts into action, now and in the future.

Thank you for your thoughtful and prayerful assistance.

Yours in Christ,

The Very Rev. Terry White

Dean
