Our Life Together
As a community whose homes are in far-flung sections of the metroplex, we especially treasure opportunities to celebrate together.

The liturgical year has been initiated in splendid fashion with a visit from St Nicholas on his noble white steed; a sumptuous candlelight banquet has marked Twelfth Night. Easter Vigil culminates in a colorful and bountiful sweet and savory reception in Founders' Hall. The next morning sees an excited search for eggs on the lawn by Church School youngsters.

Each year we celebrate the Blessing of the Animals, and at the colorful Kirkin' of the Tartan, sounds echo off the rafters as bagpipers and drummers join our processional. On Trinity Sunday, our parish picnic is an event that spills out from Founders' Hall onto the lawn with special games and activities for our children.

Sunday coffee hours convene in Founders' Hall with tasty snacks provided by the Holy Hands Committee, which also provides refreshments for all reception events. Fall Rally Day finds Founders' Hall crowded with booths for every Cathedral organization, giving parishioners a reminder of activities available for their participation.

Fund-raising dinners for the Kansas City Community Kitchen, Newcomers' receptions, bake sales to raise money for the Sunday School Foster Child program, youth group Sundae of Sundays are some of our other celebrations. And as the Cathedral, we host metropolitan and diocesan activities, with receptions after events such as ordinations and the city-wide Absalom Jones service.
